What is SecureSearch Faith Doing?

As part of commitment to compliance, and under advice from legal counsel, we will no longer provide name and address history information in background screening reports provided to you.

This means you may no longer see an applicant or volunteer’s address history, date of birth, aliases or other names associated with a particular Social Security Number in reports. However, this does not mean that we aren’t receiving and using such information from our data providers as part of an SSN Trace you request. Moving forward we will continue to use such information to assist us with the preparation of your organization’s background screening report. However, we will not then also provide name and address history to you. To be clear, when we receive name and address history information from our data providers we will continue to use that information to determine court jurisdictions and other names that should be searched for public record searches, such as criminal records, and which are associated with the Social Security Number provided by the applicant or volunteer.

Why Are We Doing This?

Name and address history information is provided to us by a data provider. It is sourced from multiple different sources, such as from credit header information on credit reports or from public records. Our data providers are restricting our ability to push name and address history information to you, the end-user of a background screening report. This restriction is in the form of a contractual restriction, where we are restricted from further disclosure of this information to end-users. Our data providers are allowing us to only use the information as an internal, investigatory tool.

Why is SecureSearch Faith Restricted?

We are restricted from disclosing name and address history to you because:

  • The information may be restricted from further disclosure because it is protected under two federal laws – the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act and/or the Drivers Privacy Protection Act.
Unlike the background check report we provide to you, which includes information protected under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), this information may be treated by our data providers as falling outside the FCRA and we are prohibited from comingling FCRA-protected data with non-FCRA protected data in a report.
Our data providers are restricting our use of name and address history for internal purposes only and not to be further disseminated.
